U.DID.IT Curriculum Information
U.DID.IT Phonics guided reading groups offer a comprehensive instructional program that improves both academic and attitudinal levels of students who are learning to read, struggling to read, need a boost of confidence reading in front of others. The educational session utilizes a reading game, The New Phonics Game™, which was co-developed by The Regents of the University of California. Aligned with Common Core and collaborative learning methods, U.DID.IT conducts 8- 30-minute sessions, two days a week, during a 4-week program. The sessions are limited to three students. The program is administered by Teachers who have passed background and fingerprint checks with the DOJ and FBI and Celeste Haueter who is the Founder of U.DID.IT Phonics , she was also pro actively involved in the development of the curriculum. She has her degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Elementary Teaching. She has been watching children blossom right before her eyes for the last 8 yrs. She has all the credentials needed to teach in the public school system but feels she is making more of a difference in this world, focusing on building a solid reading foundation for children of all ages.
U.DID.IT’s a learning tool, The New Phonics Game™, focuses on teaching specific phonetic skills necessary for fundamental reading proficiency. It consists of 13 card games and board games. U.DID.IT teachers conduct the program with up to 3 students in a group. In addition to the game, each student receives 1:1 student-teacher instruction.
A link will be provided at the end of the first session for flashcards and spelling words to utilize during the week in between sessions.
Upon completion of the course, your child will receive a watch in the mail (color and style will be random) to help remind them to set aside TIME to read each day.
This reading program of exceptional merit is fun, socially interactive, lightly competitive, and promotes collaborative learning amongst students through a group experience. It teaches the fundamental principles of phonics and literacy in all three learning modalities—auditory, visual, and tactile—critical to children with varying learning styles. Teaching in all three learning modalities assures that no matter what a child’s learning style, the game is highly engaging, entertaining, and effective.
