Rising Readers
Grade 2nd-3rd
Must be able to read! If your child is just beginning to read, they should be in the Phonics Class. In phonics we teach them how to read.
Rising Readers- build your confidence reading in front of others. Learn to comprehend what it is that you are reading.
Each week the students will read a paragraph in front of the class, then they will ask 3-4 questions about what they just read. Together the class will answer the questions. If the class is small they will be reading 2-3 paragraphs each week.
Every 4th week we will also create an origami bookmark.
They will also be building an interactive notebook. Each week will be a different focus.
The homework will be for your child to add their own samples to the notes for the week.
